Recently, our grade two students made a return visit to A New Day.
A New Day is an organization that provides for orphaned children, and
the NISC students wanted to lend a hand. Our students took a book to
share, which was good fun. We also worked with the New Day students to
create a cooperative diagram. For this activity, we labeled pictures
with English words. Finally, we taught our new friends "Math War"
and left some cards at the center for their students to keep. The
highlight of the visit was playing "Duck, Duck, Goose " with Miss
Sally on the porch.
Our students made new friends, helped others, and exhibited many of
the PYP learner profile traits during the visit. We plan to go back
one more time this year at the end of May.
We are proud of the openness and generosity displayed by our
Northbridge students at A New Day. We feel that the bridges we are
building within our Phnom Penh community constitute valuable lessons
for all involved.
